HPV Vaccination Drive in Bema and Skurbuchan as Part of LAHDC Leh’s Preventive Healthcare Initiative
Leh,August 14: Continuing its commitment to preventive healthcare, LAHDC Leh conducted an HPV vaccination drive at Skurbuchan, covering a total of 22 adolescent girls from Bema and Skurbuchan. The initiative is aimed at safeguarding young girls against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), a major cause of cervical cancer, and promoting long-term health and well-being.
Ladakh: A flash flood struck a nala along the Lukung–Chushul Road, approximately 25 km from Lukung, on Wednesday, blocking the route with heavy slush and mud. The incident caused disruption for travellers, leaving several passengers stranded. Responding swiftly, a team from the Border Roads Organisation’s (BRO) Project Himank was mobilised to the site. Working under challenging conditions, the team cleared the debris and restored traffic within 3–4 hours, ensuring safe passage for vehicles. Authorities said the prompt action not only reopened a vital route in eastern Ladakh but also provided immediate relief to stranded commuters.
