Leh, October 7: The Seva Jyoti Yatra, marking 25 years of public service by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was launched from Leh on Wednesday during the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha, with BJP national and Ladakh leaders joining party workers in the district-level programme.
BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santhosh joined BJP Ladakh president Tashi Gyaltson Khachu, Ladakh in-charge Rajkumar Bhatia, former CEC LAHDC Leh Tashi Gyalson and former MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal at the event, where the Seva Jyoti was lit before being taken out in a procession through Leh.
The procession began from Eco Park, passed through the Main Market and culminated at the Staksang Raspa Statue. The Seva Jyoti was subsequently handed over to sports personalities before being formally flagged off for its onward journey through the districts of Ladakh.
Video addresses by BJP national president Nitin Nabin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were also played during the programme, while participants took a collective pledge towards the vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047”.
Addressing the gathering, Santhosh highlighted infrastructure and institutional projects in Ladakh, referring to the new airport terminal, improved highway connectivity and expanded access to judicial services as indicators of the region’s changing development landscape.
He said the focus on connectivity, infrastructure and public services had opened new opportunities for Ladakh and strengthened its integration with the country’s wider development trajectory.
A key organisational announcement came from BJP Ladakh president Tashi Gyaltson Khachu, who said Sankoo will be made an organisational district, aimed at strengthening the party’s structure in the Sankoo and Kargil areas.
Khachu also credited the Modi government with development initiatives undertaken in Ladakh over the past six years and said the region would continue to see greater development in the coming years.
The Seva Jyoti Yatra is being taken forward across Ladakh as part of the BJP’s programmes marking 25 years of Modi’s public service, with the party linking the campaign to its broader “Viksit Bharat @2047” outreach.
