Ladakh to celebrate Nomadic Festival 2022 on Aug 20 & 21, informs EC Tashi Yakzee

Leh: After the recent joint visit to Chibra in Kargyam valley by the Executive Councillor for RDD, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee with the officials of Cultural Academy Leh regarding the celebration of the Nomadic festival this year, EC Tashi Yakzee convened a review meeting today at his office chamber to discuss the way forward for the conduct of the said festival. The festival would commence on the 20th and 21st of August in Chibra, Kargyam valley in the Lalok, Changthang region this year.

Executive Councillor for Art & Culture, Stanzin Chosphel; Councillor Chushul, Konchok Stanzin; Councillor Nyoma, Ishey Spalzang; Councillor Korzok, Karma Namdak; Councillor Kungyam, Thinles Norbu; Nominated Councillor (Sangha), Ven Konchok Tsepel, and Dy Secretary, LAAC Leh, Tsewang Paljor attended the meeting.
It was discussed during the meeting that people from across the Changthang region would participate in hosting the celebration this year. The festival is aimed to promote the untouched nomadic culture and showcase their unique traditions and lifestyle to the masses. The officials also deliberated upon the required logistical support as well as to mobilise the people of the Changthang region for the successful conduct of the said festival with full zest.

This year’s festival would have special attractions including a Nomadic market, spiritual practices, musical concerts, traditional sports activities and a display of local nomadic cuisine and artworks.
