Leh: A full dress rehearsal for the 76th Independence Day was conducted at the Polo Ground in Leh today. Divisional Commissioner, Saugat Biswas, presided over the parade and hoisted the National flag.
The full-dress rehearsal ceremony comprised marching contingent from all the belt forces, including ex-servicemen Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC), band parties, NCC contingent from Leh and Kargil and marching contingents from different schools of both the districts. For the first time, marching contingent of Commando forces and Canine squad of Ladakh Police participated in the march past.

Ladakh Academy of Art Culture and Languages (LAACL) has invited cultural performers from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir to participate in the Independence Day celebration at Leh. Apart from this, students from different schools presented enthralling cultural performances.

Meanwhile, full-dress rehearsals were also conducted at Khaltse and Nubra sub-divisions. Tehsildar, Khaltsi, Tanveer Ahmed and Sub Inspector, Diskit, Nubra, Stanzin Leksmon presided over the parade at the respective sub-divisions where marching contingents of Ladakh Police and different schools participated.
