Leh: It’s not always obvious that science shapes our daily lives, but the fact is science impacts countless decisions we make each day. From managing our health and well-being, choosing paper over plastic at the grocery store, or answering a child who asks why the sky is blue, science has an important role in our lives. More than ever before, educators need to employ teaching strategies that inspire and prepare children to embrace science and potentially pursue it in their school and career choices.

There is an increasing need for scientists, engineers, and innovators. Ladakh’s future depends on the Ladakh’s educators to use hands-on and minds-on activities to make science interesting, engaging, and inspiring. Keeping this in view Royal Society of Chemistry and Lamdon Science Society of Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Leh organizes a Professional Development Programme for Science Teachers in Leh district. 14 private schools and 2 government schools over all 45 science teachers participated in the workshop. It was an excellent platform for the teachers to exchange knowledge, skills and good practices.

Surbhi Arora was the lead facilitator who has more than 13 years of experience in the field of education. She is a Master in Education, Chemistry and English. She also is a certified career counsellor, instructional designer, google educator, Microsoft educator and digital marketer.
