Water conservation: CEC Leh for comprehensive inclusive plan
LEH: The Chairman/CEC Tashi Gyalson convened a meeting to discuss on conservation of water in the Leh district Tuesday.
Reviewing the presentation, CEC Gyalson suggested the HoDs and concerned representatives that a comprehensive scientific study need to be done on climate change, artificial glacier, glacier conservation, ground water, ground water recharge, ground water extract in Ladakh, water conservation, indigenous plant and their water requirements.
Beside that he also suggested to come up with a comprehensive inclusive plan and review and get holistic insight while taking into considerations of the requirements of the locals.
He stresses on the importance of research and get viewpoints from the experts and more inclusive knowledge in favour of the people of Ladakh.
Earlier, Programme Coordinator Chotak Gyatso of Leh Nutrition Project gave a detailed presentation on Conservation of water to share the outcome of study of Glaciers carried out by the LNP where he spoke on Climate change impact and water scarcity in Ladakh, roles of Artificial Glaciers in addressing the problem of water scarcity, promoters of Artificial Glaciers in Ladakh; types of Artificial Glaciers and their imp[act so far etc.
The meeting was attended by the Dy Chairman Tsering Angchuk; ECs, Director Horticulture Ladakh; CPO Leh; SE RnB division, SE Hydraulic division, CAO, Leh; BDO Leh; AEE PHE Leh; Xen I&FC and other concerned officers.
