Traffic Police, JK Bank organise Road Safety Awareness, Education program in Leh

Leh: A major step forward in road safety was taken on Saturday in Leh Traffic Wing of Ladakh Police in partnership with Jammu Kashmir Bank conducted an enlightening session for Truck Union Leh.

This event is part of Road Safety Awareness Month initiative by Central Government, running from 15th January to 14th February.

Toldan Senior Manager JK Bank, Inspector Parvaiz Ahmad DTI Leh, Mohd Baqir Dy. SP Traffic Leh and Mujeeb-ur-Rehman-JKPS, Superintendent of Police Traffic Wing Ladakh participated in the instant awareness cum education session besides executive members of Truck Union Leh and Truck drivers.

The focus was on essential road safety protocols and central government schemes. Toldan, Senior Manager at Jammu Kashmir Bank introduced several life-changing schemes:

1. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana: For just ₹436, secure a Life Insurance Cover of ₹2,00,000 for your loved ones.

2. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana: Open a Zero-Balance Basic Savings Account and get a free accident Insurance Cover of ₹2,00,000.

3. Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana: With a minimal ₹20 premium, avail Accidental Insurance Cover of up to ₹2,00,000.

4. Atal Pension Yojana: Secure a monthly pension between ₹1,000 – ₹5,000 post-retirement.
An impressive turnout of 65 truck union members enrolled in these schemes, preparing for a more secure future.

Inspector Parvez Ahmad, DTI Leh presented the welcome speech and shared the Road Accident Data of the last three (3) years. Mohd Baqir Dy. SP Traffic Leh urged the drivers to obey traffic laws/ rules to reduce Road Traffic Accidents.

Speaking on the occasion Sh. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman-JKPS, Superintendent of Police Traffic Wing, UT Ladakh shared invaluable insights into road safety, aiming to significantly reduce accidents and save lives and discussed about the new amendments in Motor Vehicle Act. He stressed the importance of spreading road safety protocols through awareness and educating people.

This collaborative effort between Traffic Wing of Ladakh Police and Jammu Kashmir Bank demonstrates a powerful commitment to not only enhance road safety but also to empower our community through valuable government schemes.

President Truck Union Leh expressed gratitude to Traffic Police Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir Bank for their collaborative effort in organizing this enlightening session for the Truck Union Leh.

He said that by enrolling in these life-changing schemes, the truck union members are taking a major step towards securing a more stable and protected future.
