Leh: Amid bad weather, light to moderate snowfall will continue in majority of parts of Ladakh Union Territory, MET Centre Leh informed on Friday.
Regarding the current overcast, MET spokesperson further confirmed snowing from Zojila- Drass- Kargil- Sankoo- Rangdum stretch and at higher reaches of Leh district.
The MET department predicted light to moderate snow very likely to continue in Kargil district and may occur at some places in plains , valleys of Leh district.
The officials informed that the weather would remain partly cloudy on January 14, while from Jan 15 onwards for three days, the weather would remain mainly clear and dry.
The Department further issued advisory for general public, saying the bad weather would affect surface transportation, especially over passes today.
People in snowbound area like Zojila- Drass, Parkachik- Penzila, Khardongla, Changla etc. or those commuting on Snowbound hilly areas are advised to remain alert and not to venture out, unless emergency as snowbound hilly areas are often vulnerable to Snow Avalanches during Snowfall period.
People are also advised to follow instructions of the administration, Police and stay updated weather wise.
