Almost all educational institutions in different parts of Leh celebrated Bhoti Language Day with great fervor and enthusiasm. Take a look at some pictures from different events
Government Model Degree College celebrated “Bhoti Language Day” in the college campus to create awareness about the language and its rich cultural heritage among students and faculty members. The programme started with formal welcome address by Prof. Mohd Ishaq. On this occasion, Dr. Tashi Lhundup gave a brief introduction about Bhoti language and the struggle of Ladakhi people to include it in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution. Dr. Jamphel Sheyan delivered his view on the complex nature of language and culture and how it is important to know one’s native language to have a better understanding of one’s culture and history. The programme ended with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Tsewang Gyaltsen.

Eliezer Joldan Memorial College Leh celebrated Bhoti Day with great fervor and enthusiasm on 01-04-2023. The event was organized by the Workshop and Seminar Committee of the college to promote the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh and to pay tribute to the great Ladakhi poets, authors, and linguists.
The event featured a variety of activities, including poetry recitation, calligraphy and Speech competition on ‘The Importance of Bhoti Language’. The participants showcased their talents and creativity, and the audience appreciated their performances with thunderous applause.
The Bhoti Day celebration was also an occasion for the students and staff of the college to showcase their traditional attire.

Dr Sameena Iqbal, Principal EJM College was the Chief Guest and Ven Shatdup Konchok, Assistant Professor, Department of History CIBS was the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the event, Principal Dr Sameena stressed on the importance of Bhoti language and literature in the modern world. She added that Member of Parliament Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal has initiated a bill proposing inclusion of Bhoti Language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution. “It is the responsibility of each one of us to contribute to the preservation and promotion of Bhoti language”, she said.
Ven Shetdup Konchok appreciated the efforts of the Workshop and Seminar Committee for organizing this event. He urged upon the students to learn and use Bhoti language in their everyday life. He further talked about the history and origin of Bhoti language and asked people not to associate language with religion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Tashi Dorje, Department said, “We are proud to celebrate Bhoti Day and pay homage to the great Bhoti writers, poets, and linguists who have enriched our language and literature. We hope that this event will inspire the younger generation to take an interest in the Bhoti language and its rich cultural heritage.”

The Seminar and Debate Committee of Government Degree College (GDC), Nubra observed Bhoti Language Day at GDC, Nubra campus today.
Extempore speech on the theme ‘Importance of celebrating Bhoti Language Day’ was given by students of different semesters.
The video of MP, Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal made especially for this occasion was also screened at the event to spread awareness amongst the staff and students of college about the importance of Bhoti Language.
