LEH: A delegation from the All Ladakh Tour Operators Association (ALTOA), led by President Tsewang Dorjey and General Secretary Tsewang Namgyal, along with executive members, called on the Chairman, CEC, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, to discuss key issues concerning tourism in Ladakh.
The delegation raised the need to simplify the current process for obtaining Protected Area Permits (PAP), highlighting that tourists are currently required to submit the same information multiple times.
They requested the introduction of a single, streamlined application system to make the process more tourist-friendly.
They also urged the implementation of a single registration process for Mountaineering Tour Operators (MTOs), Adventure Tour Operators (ATOs), and general Tour Operators, to ease administrative challenges and improve efficiency.
Concerns were also raised regarding the continued collection of Open Peak Permit fees by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF). CEC assured the delegation of his full support in addressing the issues raised.
Meanwhile, Chairman, CEC Tashi Gyalson was called on by the Chairperson, Haj Committee, UT Ladakh, Mohd Ali Majaz.
During the interaction, various matters related to the Haj pilgrimage were discussed, particularly the construction of a Haj House in the Union Territory. The issue of land allotment for this purpose was also discussed in detail.
They also discussed about the need to provide better facilities and support for Ladakh Haj pilgrims.
The CEC assured full support and cooperation in addressing the concerns raised.
And the outgoing BGS (Int), HQ 14 Corps, Brig Vinod S, and the incoming BGS (Int), HQ 14 Corps Brig Satyakam Dabas, made a courtesy call to the CEC Gyalson.
The CEC felicitated Brig Vinod S on the occasion, appreciating his dedicated service in the region and extending best wishes for his future endeavours.
He also welcomed Brig Satyakam Dabas and assured him of continued support and close coordination from the Hill Council.
