Leh: The Ladakh police hold a massive awareness rally to spread awareness about cyber security and substance abuse.
An official told Indus Dispatch, the Leh wing of Ladakh police is holding marathon rallies across the district.
“The objective of rally is to spread awareness about cyber-crime & substance abuse-related,” he said.
He added that the awareness rallies were part of Azadi Ka AmritMahotsav, specially targeting women & children from rural areas.
It may be recalled Ladakh police have earlier issued an advisory for prevention of cyber crimes to spread awareness and save people from online frauds.
Police advised people not to click on unknown links received on text messages, whatsApp Facebook, email or any other social media platform.
“Cybercriminals are now exploiting the ability to send functional external links on social media platforms to lure victims in giving out their personal and even bank account details,” Ladakh Police said in advisory.
“It is hereby informed to the general public that a new phishing attack by cyber criminals is being widely spread in the region,” the advisory reads.
“Victims are receiving text messages, WhatsApp messages, emails stating that they can win large sums of money by clicking on the link given in the message. Victims fall prey to these tricks of cyber-criminals by clicking on such links impulsively and their important data like bank details etc. are stolen by cyber criminals,” advisory said.
“Given below is one such message which has become viral and is victimizing the general public: Your A / C XXXXXXXX6596 can be credited with Rs.425000. Check Now! e6n.me/5iaske and win money,” it reads.
Ladakh police advised people not to click on such unknown/ suspicious links received over text messages, WhatsApp, Facebook, email or any other social media platform.
