
Over 175 mines destroyed in Leh
LEH: The Indian Army has carried out a demining operation across three regions within the Leh district, resulting in the successful disposal of 175 mines.
This operation was undertaken in response to the appeals of local residents residing along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh. Expressing their gratitude,
Deputy Commissioner of Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, conveyed, “On behalf of the villagers from Phobrang, Yourgo, and Lukung, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Fire and Fury Corps for their prompt and effective efforts in securing and clearing these areas, culminating in the destruction of over 175 mines.”
Sukhadeve also emphasized that this proactive measure has effectively addressed the safety concerns of the local populace, reinforcing the robust bond between the civilian and military communities in Ladakh.
The sarpanch of Phobrang expressed his gratitude, stating, “I want to extend my sincere thanks to the Indian Army for eliminating these mines, which had been planted back in 1962. These mines had been causing significant harm to our community over the years.”
