LEH: In the UT of Ladakh’s Kargil district, paramedics working under National Health Mission (NHM) and Asha workers for months have been deprived of monthly wages since the concerned authorities reportedly have held their salaries.
As per the reports, the monthly salaries of said employees have not been paid for last three months. NHM and Asha employees are facing financial and domestic problems amid official apathy.
Since their salaries are already mere and paying them on monthly basis regularly would have been a relief for them, said one of the employees, and added that they cannot make statements over the very issue.
They said that they are merely provided any salary hike unlike in Jammu and Kashmir where the government had approved hike in salary of NHM employees years ago.
“We have been honestly working and serving,” the employee said, adding “We have couple of times appealed to the concerned department to disburse our salaries since we are going through financial crunches.”
After the issue came to the light, Principal Secretary and MD NHM had assured to resolve the salary issue of employees within couple of days. And so far have been two days, but the grievance is yet to be addressed.
For taking prompt action, they had stated that NHM employees and Asha workers whose January and February salary is pending would be paid.
The NHM employees another appeal to the concerned Department have requested for the disbursement of their monthly wages, and further on regular basis.
MD NHM while clarifying the facts said,”Only four blocks of Kargil District has not disbursed salary of employees due to some issues. The funds for payment of pending salary are already with the District. The salaries of those employees will be paid by tomorrow as assured by CMO Kargil. There is no pendency for Leh District.”
