Leh: Sports not only build better athletes but also better people. With a vision to produce better people, games and sports are an integral part of Lamdon School’s curriculum. We have observed through sports students learn about discipline, social skills, team work, leadership, patience, decision making, communication, conflict resolution, respect for rules, confidence. Above all, it builds sportsmanship, which is very essential because it helps to deal with both winning and losing with grace. Keeping this in view Lamdon annually organizes Lamdon Sports Day this year under the theme “Khelo Lamdon, Padoh Lamdon” held on Monday.

On this day we honour our sporting heroes with recognitions through Stanzin Chospel Executive Councillor. The sporting heroes of Lamdon School for representing India at the International Ice Hockey Federation of the Asia and Oceania championship who has been honored Stanzin Lotos judged the best player. Edzes Lamo, Stanzin Yangdol and Yang Dolma Tamang for representing Ladakh at Football Women’s Nationals under 17 and Tsewang Nurboo for winning multiples medals and got selected in India Junior Cycling team and more students. We are not only producing civil servants, engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs but also players of national and international level. Over the years our students have achieved many medals, trophies and championships in different games, sports and athletic events. These medals aren’t really made of gold but they are made of sweat, determination, team work. Besides competitive sports, we strategically promote Sports for Development and Peace through different clubs. Many of these clubs are being managed and coached by students those who are excellent in particular sports. For example our archery club’s coach is Stanzin who is a student of class 9th who teaches the art of archery to not only junior students but also to senior students and teachers.

Our school is a Fit India certified school we have the best games and sporting infrastructure and human resources in Ladakh. Our sporting infrastructure include international standard football ground, cricket ground, basketball ball court, handball court, archery academy, handball ground, volley ball ground, table tennis academy, badminton. We believe that, when each school is Fit and Healthy. Our Ladakh and country would be prosperous, healthy, happy and peaceful.
