
Mishra reviews progress of ongoing project works, issues concerning different depts
Leh: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) held a meeting with the Departmental Secretaries and Head of Departments at Raj Niwas to review the progress of ongoing project works and various other issues concerning their respective departments.
The LG discussed various issues with the Departmental Secretaries and HODs in the meeting, viz. the posting of Directors of different departments in Leh and Kargil; the detachment of government school teachers; the upcoming The Himalayan Film Festival 2023; the fashion show at Umling La; the shortage of drinking water at Taisuru block; the reason for the delay in the procurement of CT Scan and MRI machines for District Hospital, Kargil; the progress on the establishment of 50-bedded Medical College, the Engineering College and the Government Degree College at Sankoo; the functioning of the Sindhu Central University in Ladakh; the update on the declaration of result of Ladakh Selection Post 2022 by Staff Selection Commission; the recruitment rules of gazetted posts shared by the UT Administration with UPSC; the update on conducting of Panchayati Raj Institutions elections in Ladakh; the update on resumption of helicopter services in Ladakh; the need for appointment of dedicated Liaison Officers (LOs) for the operation of flights from Chandigarh to Leh/Nubra along with the airlifting of Ladakhi citizens in the winter months; the need for rationalisation of staff at Ladakh Bhawan in Delhi; the expansion of Thoise Airfield in Nubra sub-division; the update on the rationalisation of boundaries of Karakoram/Changthang Wildlife Sanctuaries; the progress on the saturation of Jal Jeevan Mission in Ladakh to provide drinking water to rural households; the setting up of check posts in border areas of Ladakh; the ongoing cleanliness drive in different parts of Ladakh; the campaign on achieving zero malnutrition target in Ladakh under Poshan 2.0; the launch of the Sarphel Laskhungs Pocast by Department of Information and Public Relations, UT Ladakh; the setting up of Agriculture Department at University of Ladakh; the establishment of circuit bench of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh in Ladakh; the upcoming workshop to be organised by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for traffic/transport department personnel from Ladakh; the recruitment drive by Ladakh Police for the post of constables, etc.
The LG highlighted the need to procure CT Scan and MRI machines for District Hospital, Kargil at the earliest for the ease and convenience of patients.
He instructed the Director Health Services to expedite the process of procurement of both these equipment at the earliest and stated that he would take up the matter with the Ministry of Home Affairs to expedite the process.
The LG instructed the Secretary, PHE, for possible interventions, wherever needed, in the saturation of the JJM scheme so that the rural households have access to potable drinking water. He also instructed Secretary PHE to address issues of drinking water wherever required.
