Leh: Member, NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog, Dr Vijay Kumar Saraswat, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas on Saturday.
The LG and Dr VK Saraswat discussed various topics and issues, such as developments that have taken place in Ladakh after becoming a Union Territory post abrogation of Article 370; the issues arising due to the cut in budget allocation to UT Ladakh for the Financial year 2025-26; the decision taken by the Government of India to create five new districts in Ladakh; steps that can be taken to overcome degeneration of tourism in Ladakh to increase the footfall of tourists in the region along with boosting winter tourism in Ladakh, etc.
While inquiring about UT Ladakh’s expectations from NITI Aayog, Dr Saraswat assured full support from NITI Aayog in all sectors, including the major solar power project at Pang.
The LG appreciated NITI Aayog’s support and stated that the UT Administration would share with them the areas/sectors in which their help would be required for the overall benefit and development of Ladakh.
