Leh: A delegation from Jammu and Kashmir Bank comprising Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Baldev Prakash; Deputy General Manager, Tsewang Dorjay and Zonal Head J&K Bank Leh, Dorjay Angchuk called on the LG at Raj Niwas.
Baldev informed the LG that there are around 125 banking touch points in Ladakh, including ATMs. He also informed that ultra-small branches of the bank have been established in rural areas of Ladakh so that the people can avail banking facilities.
He assured the LG of all-possible assistance by J&K Bank for the developmental activities in Ladakh as development partners.
The LG instructed Baldev and other officials from J&K Bank to conduct a survey to identify areas/villages with big populations that lack banking facilities so that new branches of the bank can be opened.
He impressed upon the officials of J&K Bank to open more accounts, especially for females, to promote Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in Ladakh.
He also instructed the officials to ensure that the ultra-small branches of the bank in rural areas are opened six days a week to provide maximum benefit to the people of Ladakh.
