Leh: The Chief Engineer of Project Yojak Jitender Prasad said that Manali and Padum Pass would be open for traffic by March 15 as efforts are being made since snow clearance has already started from both Manali and Padum.

The CE said that the Singge-La Pass was kept open for vehicular traffic throughout the year, except for a week’s time due to heavy snowfall and avalanches, and further informed that the snow clearance work on 70 km-long road was completed within a week’s time.

CE Jitender informed that the Shinku-La Pass which connects Zanskar with Manali was kept open till January 31, 2023, and the Singge-La Pass which connects Zanskar with Leh was opened for vehicular traffic on March 2.

The Chief Engineer appraised this to Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at Raj Niwas a day back. The LG was reviewing the clearance of snow on Singge-La and Shinku-La Passes.

The LG inquired about the progress of clearance of snow on these twin passes in the Zanskar sub-division.

The LG instructed Chief Engineer Project Yojak to provide a detailed plan of their future plans for all the roads maintained by them in Ladakh.

He also instructed CE not to compromise on the quality of work and finish all the pending work within the stipulated timeline.
