
LSF proposes Science City in Ladakh, Jitendra writes to LG Mishra
LEH: The much-talked about Ladakh Science City may soon be reality in the union territory as union minister for Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh on Monday urged Lieutenant Governor Brigadier B D Mishra to look into the proposal submitted by the Ladakh Science Foundation (LSF) and take appropriate action in this regard.
In a collective effort towards providing students practical sessions of science and technology, the Ladakh Science Foundation and the Hill Councils in both Leh and Kargil have been planning to establish Ladakh Science City in several parts of the union territory.
In the month of June, the Founder Director of Ladakh Science Foundation, Tsering Tashi had met with several executive councillors of the hill council and had briefed them of the need to establish Ladakh Science City at various places in Ladakh with feasibility of eco-system and scientific importance.
Tsering Tashi had also written to Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Science and Technology; Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office; Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions; Minister of State in the Department of Atomic Energy and Minister of State in the Department of Space Government of India.
Tsering Tashi, a Scientist-Engineer in ISRO and presently working as Deputy Project Director, Navigation Spacecraft at UR Rao Satellite Centre, Banglaore, had informed the minister that his organisation LSF is playing a pivotal role in scientific popularisation, scientific temper inclusion etc., which is befitting thousands of student of Ladakh, and proposed to established ‘Ladakh Science City’ at various scientific importance places in Ladakh.
Jitendra on Monday wrote to Lieutenant Governor Brigadier B D Mishra.
“LSF is proposing to establish Ladakh Science City at different places in Ladakh to achieve the above objectives..you may like to get his proposal examined for appropriate action,” said the letter.
Reacting to the development, Tsering Tashi thanked Jitendra and expressed his gratitude to the Narendra Modi-led government at the centre.

Asserting that the country’s development is essentially associated with the development of science and children shape the future by means of science and technological intervention, Founder Director LSF said that the main objective of the establishment of Ladakh Science City is to technically improve young students so that they can practically understand deep scientific concepts.
