
LREDA-NHPC sign MoU for Solar Street Lighting System in far flung areas
Leh: A MOU was signed between NHPC Ltd., Nimoo Bazgo Station, Alchi, Leh and Ladakh Renewable Energy Development Agency (LREDA) for supplying, installing, testing and commissioning of 100 numbers of 20 Watt Solar Street Lighting System at Demchok and other far-flung villages.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Dy. Chairman Tsering Angchuk; EC RDD, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; DC/CEO LAHDC Leh, Shrikant Suse; Nyoma Councillor, Ishey Spalzang; CPO Leh, Tsewang Gyalson; Project Director LREDA Chosying Dorjey, concerned officials, and a village representative.
Officials of NHPC led by GM/HOP NHPC Nimo Bazgo Power Station, Jitendra Kumar; Senior Manager (HR), Rupesh Kumar; Senior Manager CSR, Ranjan Kumar were also present at the event.
Dy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk expressed his gratitude to NHPC for stepping up in ensuring good lighting infrastructures in places like Demchok and other far-flung areas of Leh. He further asked all the officers/officials to ensure the maintenance of good-quality solar street lamps.
He added that this MOU heralds a new dawn with an objective of renewable energy transition and envisages joint development of far-flung areas of Ladakh.
Earlier, PD LREDA gave an overview of the CSR initiative of NHPC to supply, install, test and commission 100 numbers of 20 Watt Solar Street Lighting Systems at Demchok and other far-flung villages of Leh near LAC.
