
LG’s Kargil tour: Several delegations call on Mishra on Day 2
Kargil: Several delegations called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at Raj Niwas on the second day of his tour to Kargil Sunday.
Chairman, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan; Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Santosh Sukhdeve and SSP Kargil, Anayat Ali Choudhary were present in the meeting.
Councillors, Sarpanches, other representatives and employees from different constituencies/departments of Kargil raised several issues.
The issues include the need to change the alignment of the construction of the new Leh-Srinagar National Highway due to the existence of many structures in its path; the need for the establishment o Urban Community Health Centre at the old building of District Hospital, Kargil along with the sanctioning of posts of medical staff; establishment of Government Degree College at Sankoo along with the retention of faculty members and transfer of registration of students from GDC Kargil to Sankoo College; creation of a new Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) for Ladakh and the absorption of employees currently working for JKEDI due to their prior experience; the need for the clearance of liability of Rs 18 lakh for work completed for the Tourism Department; provide jobs on compassionate grounds under SRO 43; repatriation of staff from Jammu and Kashmir working in different departments of UT Ladakh to J&K UT; the need for enhancement of honorarium paid to Part-Time Sweepers (PTS) and the regularisation of their jobs; the issue faced in appearing for Common University Entrance Test (CUET) due to the delay in providing information about the examination centre, etc.
A delegation from Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA) called on the LG at Raj Niwas.
The delegates informed about the need to revise the tariff of the power supplied by them; the need to take up the matter with the Central Government for the clearance of their liabilities; the need to allocate projects to them worth over Rs 20 crores and provide grant-in-aid for purchasing vehicles for transportation.
The LG asked the villagers to make concessions for projects which are meant for the overall benefit of the people of Kargil and Ladakh. He also informed the delegates about his meeting with the Union Home Minister to discuss the establishment of the Government Degree College at Sankoo.
He also instructed CEC Kargil and DC Kargil to clear the pending liabilities and look into the issues flagged by the delegates.
The LG also highlighted the need for a master roster based on which SRO 43 cases can be prioritised to ensure speedy justice for the beneficiaries. He also instructed the concerned officials to look into the matter of repatriation of staff from J&K working in Ladakh.
He further instructed DC Kargil to establish a board of officers to conduct a study into the schedule/work of the PTS so that necessary steps can be taken for their benefit. The LG also instructed DC Kargil to provide all possible assistance to the student who missed his CUET exam.
Speaking on the issue flagged by the delegates from KREDA, the LG asked them to raise the issue of the increase in tariff with the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for UT of Jammu & Kashmir and instructed Secretary, Power & NRE, Ravinder Kumar to take up the issue of appointment of a member from Ladakh in JERC UT of J&K.
