LG Mishra seeks public cooperation for Corruption & Delay free Ladakh

LG holds public interaction at TRC Padum
Kargil: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), held a meeting with public representatives at Tourist Reception Centre (TRC), Padum on the first day of his tour to the Zanskar sub-division.

Several delegations, including Zanskar Buddhist Association, Zanskar Gonpa Association, Zonal Muslim Association, Chairpersons of Block Development Councils, Sarpanchs, Lambardars and other public representatives met the LG and apprised him of their greivances.

The delegates raised several demands, viz. the creation of a separate district for Zanskar sub-division; merger of Rangdum village with Zanskar sub-division; creation of posts of Bhoti teachers; filling up of vacant posts in different departments of Zanskar sub-division; improvement of healthcare facilities at Community Health Centre (CHC), Zanskar; renovation/ restoration of ancient monasteries; deployment of security guards for protection of ancient monasteries; construction of link roads for the ancient monasteries; providing mid-day meal for various Gonpa schools; allocation of funds for renovation of ancient monasteries; construction of Zanskar Sarai for Zanskar Muslim Association at Leh; filling of vacant posts of Arabic teachers in Zanskar; restoration and preservation of Phuktal Gonpa; construction of parking space and library- cum-museum at Bardan Gonpa; construction of Dharma Centre at Zongkhul Gonpa; erection of fencing wall for Stakrimo Gonpa; construction of circular road from Sarag to Spangmik; irrigation canal for Akshow village; construction of helipad at Akshow village; the issue of shortage of Patwaris in Zanskar sub-division; upgradation of link roads in Padum town; upgradation of schools; allotment of land for ex-servicemen, etc.

The LG instructed Superintendent Engineer, PWD Kargil, Shri Abdul Mutalib to construct a labour room along with bathroom at CHC Padum within 15 days.

He also instructed Project Director, Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA), Ahmad Khan, to restore the solar power plant at CHC Padum within 15 days.

He further instructed Chief Engineer, CPWD to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) on new building of the District Hospital and submit it for approval within 5 days so that the work can start at the earliest.

The LG sanctioned Rs 2.5 lakhs for construction of washroom attached with Maternity Delivery room and instructed Chief Medical Officer, Kargil, Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir, to get it constructed as the earliest.

The LG asked him to restore the solar power plant and provide best possible health care facilities to patients at CHC Padum. He informed the delegates that 140 posts of Bhoti teachers have been sent to MHA for approval.

The LG assured the delegates that the UT Administration will ensure requisite infrastructure facilities to boost the healthcare facilities in the sub-division. The LG stated that both Hill Councils should complete the remaining work of the ongoing projects within three years.

He also stated that the Administration is committed to completing the developmental works within stipulated time frame.

The LG stated that the Administration has taken action to stop the attachment of teachers to other departments and necessary instructions have been issued in this regard to the concerned departments.

He instructed Chief Education Officer, Kargil, Mushtaq Ahmad to detach teaching and non-teaching staff and adjust them as per the enrolment of students at schools.

For the rationalisation of students-teachers ratio in the schools, the HLG informed that a Board of Study Committee will be constituted. He stated that the teachers will teach at least four classes a day.

The LG stressed the importance of a Corruption and Delay-Free Ladakh and assured to end the corruption and delay from Ladakh. He sought public cooperation in this regard.

The LG assured the delegates to develop road and telecommunications connectivity in the sub-division. He also assured to provide mid-day meal to various schools of Gonpas and directed Secretary, Social Welfare to provide mid-day meal to students of Gompa schools. He further assured the delegates to examine the case of creation of Arabic teachers in the sub-division.

The LG instructed DC Kargil to look into the issue of allotment of land for ex-servicemen and examine the case. He instructed Superintendent Engineer, PHE, Kargil to complete the pending remaining Jal Jeevan Mission works to ensure that all households have access to drinking water in the winter.

The LG stressed the officials to work with dedication, sincerity and honesty for the benefit of the public.

Earlier, the LG was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at Army Helipad at Padum, Zanskar. The LG interacted with Army jawans at the Army camp at Padum, Zanskar.
