
LG Mishra orders formation of State Dental Council in Ladakh
Nursing orderlies apprise LG of their issues
Leh: A delegation comprising members of All Ladakh Dental Surgeon Welfare Association led by its President, Dr Fayaz Ahmed, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas Sunday. Commissioner Secretary, PWD, Ajeet Kumar Sahu was present in the meeting.
Dr Fayaz informed that there are five dental consultants and 26 dental surgeons in Ladakh.
He raised the need for the creation of the post of Deputy Director Dentistry in the Health and Family Welfare Department; the need for the formation of a State Dental Council in Ladakh for the registration of dentists; the need to change the nomenclature of dental surgeons to Medical Officer (Dental) along with their promotion; the need for a common recruitment rule for Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education (Gazetted) Services of UT Ladakh which includes all gazetted posts and not notify recruitment rules for dental separately; the need to create posts of dental surgeon at all CHCs, PHCs and Sub-Divisional Hospitals and newly created NTPHCs in both districts, etc.
Dr Fayaz also raised issues of NHM dental surgeons, outsourced dental surgeons and unemployed dental surgeons, including disparity in pay between dental surgeons and Medical Officers MBBS; the regularisation of their jobs; the need to enhance the salaries of outsourced dental surgeons; the need for early recruitment under UPSC and NHM and also post creation for dental surgeons as per IPHS guidelines; etc.
The LG instructed Sahu to form the State Dental Council for the benefit of the dentists from Ladakh. He assured to look into their other matters.
A delegation comprising nursing orderlies led by Tsering Dolma called on the HLG at Raj Niwas.
Dolma informed LG that they have been working in the medical department on a contractual basis for the past 15 years.
She requested for regularisation of their job. The LG assured to look into the matter.
