
LG Mishra lays foundation stone of construction of Museum at Spituk Monastery
LEH: Lt. Governor of Ladakh, Brig. (Retd) Dr. B.D. Mishra along with the First Lady, Neelam Mishra Monday laid foundation stone of the construction of the Museum at Spituk Monastery.
Chairman/CEC, Tashi Gyalson also participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony at Spituk Monastery.
The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries and officials including Member of Parliament Ladakh, Advisor to LG, Administrative Secretaries, Councillor Phyang Constituency, BDC Chairperson Leh, Head Monk of Spituk monastery, Head of Religious Organisations, and various other officers/officials and PRI Members of Spituk and its adjacent villages.
In his address, CEC Gyalson extended congratulations on the official foundation stone laying of the museum at Spituk Monastery. He emphasised the importance of preserving the heritage and assets of Ladakh and mentioned that the construction of the museum at Spituk monastery is a much-needed initiative for preserving the heritage and assets of the ancient artifacts along with the historical images stored at the monastery that need to be preserved.
CEC Gyalson mentioned that Hill Council, Leh has already signed an MoU with National Museum to promote community museums in rural areas including one at Gya village, where the community is taking care of it.
He stressed the need to train curators to look after the museums and also stressed the importance of getting back the artifacts belonging to Ladakh from Jammu Kashmir UT. He also emphasised the need for a good archival center in Ladakh to preserve all the official records.
