Sudhanshu Pandey is first Election Commission of Ladakh after the formation of region as Union Territory
Leh: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), administered the oath of office to the new State Election Commissioner of Ladakh, Sudhanshu Pandey, in the swearing-in ceremony held at Raj Niwas.
Sudhanshu Pandey, a retired IAS officer of the 1987 J&K cadre, is the first Election Commissioner of Ladakh after the region became a union territory in 2019.
Sudhansu retired as Union Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution last year. He is the common Election Commissioner appointed for the Union territories of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu and Lakshadweep.
The LG congratulated Sri Sudhanshu on assuming the charge of the State Election Commissioner of Ladakh and wished him the best. The LG later discussed various issues with Sudhanshu, including the preparation for the upcoming Panchayati Raj Institutions elections in Ladakh.
Advisor to LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Councillor, Skyu-Markha, Sonam Nurboo; Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve and other officials were present during the swearing-in ceremony.
