Ladakh Team wins 7 Medals at National SnowShoe Championship

Leh: Team Ladakh Shines at the 7th National Snowshoe Championship 2023 held at Gulmarg J&K and won 4 Silver medals and 3 Bronze medals. The team was led by Coach and Senior Player Sajjad Hussain.

Sajjad Hussain won Bronze Medal in Senior Boys 6km; Ghulam Ali won Silver in Sprint 400mtrs and in Sprint 400mtr Mohd Taqui won Silvermedal.

Likewise in Senior Girls Long 1500mtrs Zarena Banoo won Silver medal, in Senior Girls Sprint 400mtr Zarena Banoo won Silver Medal while Bilques Banoo won Bronze Medal in 1500 mtr and Gulnaz Fatima won Bronze Medal in 800mtrs.

Sajjad Hussain while talking to media said that this is for the first time a full-fledged team of UT Ladakh participated in the Nationals and Winning Medals is a great result.

These winter sports events will further boost players to take up the sports. It will inspire youngsters from Ladakh to take up winter sports as their career.

Ladakh has great potential to organize National Events of Sports like Snow Shoe and soon we will see a National happening in Ladakh.

Mohammad Amin Polo Ace Sports promoter and activist and General Secretary of Snow Shoe Association congratulated the team for the result and said that the association is new in UT Ladakh but has a greater prospect for UT Ladakh as we are excelling in athletics and Snowshoe is just like Athletics on snow.

He said that Drass, Suru and Umba in Kargil has great potential to organize National level events of Snowshoe and other sports related to Snow which will indirectly help in promoting UT Ladakh as a National Winter Sports Destination to attract sports/adventure lovers from all over the world During winter.
