Leh: The Election Department of Ladakh on Thursday issued notification for bye-elections to elect the new councillor for Timisgam Constituency of LAHDC-Leh.

The vacancy has accrued due to death of the former Councilor, who was elected from Timisgam Constituency, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh.
“Whereas, the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh has decided to conduct Bye-Election to the 22-Timisgam Constituency, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh to elect a new Councilor in accordance with the provisions of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Act, 1997,” reads the notification.
Now, therefore, in pursuance of Rule 11 of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils (Election) Rules, 1995, the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh hereby call upon the 22-Timisgam Constituency, notified vide notification SRO 135 dated: 31-05-1995, to elect the member for constituting the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh in accordance with the provisions of the Act and rules and orders made thereunder.
“Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh vide Notification S.O. 95 dated:-18.08.2022 has called upon the 22-Timisgam Constituency to elect the new councilor for conduct of Bye-Election, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh. Now, therefore, in pursuance of Rule 12 of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils (Election) Rules, 1995, the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh hereby fix the dates/time for purpose of the said rules,” reads the notification issued by Commissioner Secretary Ladakh, Padma Angmo.
As per the order, the last date of nomination is 26 August and August 29 is last date for withdrawing nomination.
The notification further informed that polling will be held 13 September and counting on September 17.
