Ladakh gets another Community Radio Station at Drass

Kargil: In Ladakh, to reach up to the people of Shina Speaking People and to meet long-desired aspirations of the local population LT Gen Anendiya Sen Gupta GOC Fire and Fury Crops Monday inaugurated 90.4 Community FM Station Radio Drass at AGS Drass.

The radio station will cover Drass, the Shina Speaking town in Ladakh, and its surrounding villages and reach out to nearly 25 thousand citizens. The Community Radio Station (CRS) is operated by local staff.

Community Radio Station (CRS) services commenced in India in 2004 and provide a cheap and easily accessible platform for sharing and promoting knowledge, culture, awareness as relevant to the particular community such as rural development, hygiene and sanitation, and women and youth empowerment schemes and endeavours to meet the requirements and aspirations of the local community in Kargil.

Earlier in Kargil RGAZOM 90.8MHz is operating as the first of its kind in Ladakh which is also being run by the Indian Army.

BDC Drass Noor Mohammad Thanked Indian Army for the Community Radio Station and urged upon the Government to Start All India Radio Kargil from AIR Drass and increase the Shina Programme from AIR Kargil.

He also requested for starting the Regional Version of PM Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat Programme in Shina Language so that the Shina Speaking People will get to Know about the Mann ki Baat of the PM.

Earlier Sepoy Javed Aliyo and his troop presented a Patriotic Song written and Composed by Him in Urdu and Shina Language Fakher e Hindustan.
