LEH: The Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh organized a farewell ceremony at the Civil Secretariat, Leh, to bid adieu to the outgoing Commissioner, Secretary, Dr Vasanthakumar Namasivayam.

The event marked his voluntary retirement from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Dr. Vasanthakumar belongs to the 2004 batch of the AGMUT cadre.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary of Ladakh Dr Pawan Kotwal extended best wishes to Dr Vasanthakumar for his future endeavours.

He described him as a capable and dedicated officer, acknowledging his significant contributions to the administration.

The Chief Secretary especially highlighted Dr. Vasanthakumar’s instrumental role in the establishment of the Government Medical College in Leh and in the preparation of maps for the rationalisation of the Karakoram and Changthang Cold Desert Wildlife Sanctuaries.

He also praised Dr. Vasanthakumar’s sincerity, commitment, and the vital role he played during his tenure.

The Chief Secretary and other dignitaries felicitated Dr. Vasanthakumar with traditional khataks and mementos in appreciation of his service.

In his address, Dr. Vasanthakumar expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, the Chief Secretary, Departmental Secretaries, and all officials for the support extended to him throughout his tenure.

He also reflected on the various initiatives and developmental efforts he undertook across multiple departments during his twenty-month tenure as Commissioner/Secretary.

The ceremony was attended by Departmental Secretaries, the Deputy Commissioner of Leh, Heads of Departments, Deputy and Under Secretaries, along with officers and staff of the Civil Secretariat.
