First ever Khelo India City Open Archery Tournament held; CEC Attends Closing Ceremony

First ever Khelo India City Open Archery Tournament held; CEC Attends Closing Ceremony

LEH: Ladakh witnessed the successful conduct of the first-ever Khelo India City Open Archery Tournament, organized by the Archery Association of Ladakh in collaboration with the Archery Association of India, SAI, NTPC, and Khelo India.

The tournament saw over 250 participants, including archers from different parts of Ladakh, competing in three categories—Indian Round, Compound, and Recurve.

The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk, who encouraged the participants and lauded the efforts of the organizers in promoting archery in Ladakh.

The closing ceremony was graced by Chairman/CEC Advocate Tashi Gyalson as the chief guest, while ADC Ghulam Mohd attended as the guest of honour.

The event was also attended by Councillor Panamik Tsering Sangdup,University of Ladakh Dean Dr. Jigmet Dachen, DYSSO, and other dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, CEC Tashi Gyalson commended the Archery Association of Ladakh for its commitment to developing the sport and providing local athletes with a platform to showcase their talent.

He also appreciated the members of the Archery Association for their voluntary efforts in advancing the sport, noting that their dedication has been instrumental in taking archery forward in the region.

He acknowledged that it is because of their hard work and commitment that Ladakh is now witnessing participation at the national level, marking a significant achievement for the sport.

CEC reaffirmed LAHDC Leh’s dedication to promoting archery as a professional sport and assured continued support through various initiatives aimed at encouraging and nurturing young archers in Ladakh.

The Archery Association of Ladakh expressed gratitude to CEC Tashi Gyalson and LAHDC Leh for their unwavering support, which has enabled local athletes to gain exposure at competitions beyond the region, further strengthening the archery culture in Ladakh.

The tournament concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where the winners were awarded for their outstanding performances.

Dignitaries felicitated the top performers with prizes, recognizing their skill, dedication, and hard work.
