
First ever full moon Marathon held in Ladakh. Full list of winners inside
LEH: To honour the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1962 war, the Adventure Sports Foundation of Ladakh (ASFL) successfully organized the first-ever full moon marathon in Ladakh on Thursday night.
Marking a significant milestone in adventure sports in the region, more than 100 runners who participated in the races, a full marathon spanning 42 km and a half-marathon spanning over 21.9 kms.
This historic run started from the bank of pangong lake at merak village concluding at rezang la war memorial.
Supported by the LAHDC Leh administration and the Indian Army, the marathon’s safe and seamless execution received overwhelming response, setting a new benchmark for future adventure sports initiatives.
In the full marathon, Stanzin Namgyal bagged first position with a time of 3 hours 52 minutes, followed by Jigmet Singay with the time of 4 hours 24 minutes, and Padma Tundup with the time of 4 hours 37 minutes.
In the full marathon for Women, Namgyal Angmo emerged as the winner with a time of 4 hours 27 minutes, Chamba Tsetan, Founder Adventure sports foundation of Ladakh, informed.

In the Half marathon, Sonam Rigzin, Chetan Namgyal and Sonam Chinba bagged top three positions among men, with the times of 1 hour 44 minutes, 1 hour 47 minutes, and 1 hour 47 minutes, respectively.
Among women, top three positions were secured by Tashi Ladol, Stanzin Chorol and Thinles Angmo with the times of 1 hour 51 minutes, 2 hours 40 minutes, and 2 hours 44 minutes, respectively, he added.

With its awe-inspiring landscapes, rich culture, and history, Ladakh aims to leverage the event to boost tourism and establish an annual tradition that inspires participation and regional pride.
The ASFL has expressed sincere gratitude to all participants, as well as the LAHDC Leh administration and the Indian Army, for their invaluable support, which made the event a resounding success.
