EC Fazily flags off progressive sheep & goat breeders for exposure tour

KARGIL: Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil for Animal Husbandry Aga Syed Mehdi Fazily Saturday flagged off 49 progressive sheep & goat breeders of Kargil district for exposure tour within UT, Ladakh under National Livestock Mission (NLM).

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kargil, Executive Officer, MC, Kargil, Ad Fisheries, Doctors of both Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Councilor, Suru, besides other concerned officers were present during the occasion.

During the occasion, EC Fazily congratulated the department for organising such exposure tours to the progressive farmers/ breeders. 

He urged the breeders to take benefit of such tours and also directed to implement them on ground. 

EC also highlighted the schemes of various subsidy components of Council and the department and hoped to organise such tours outside the UT for the welfare of the breeders. 

Earlier, Assistant Director Animal Husbandry, Kargil Dr Niyaz ul Hassanain informed that the tour aims to provide practices being adopted in cold deserts of Leh and pastural practices used by the nomadic communities. 

He informed that the breeders will visit the top institutes such as Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), Pashmina processing unit, Upshi, Russian Merino farm,Matho, Changlook, farm, Stagna, Fish farm,Chuchot, Cattle breeding farm, Agri Unit ,Agling, Milk plant, Agriculture farm, Leh and more. 

Apt to mention here that the department has organised the 5 days exposure tour and all the accommodation too and fro is provided by the department.
