Leh, June 18: Department of Industries & Commerce, Leh headed by Functional Manager Abhishek Chandra Vaidya along with SPMU-PMFME team organised an awareness camp regarding the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme at Panchayat Ghar, Skurbuchan and Shey-Thiksey on June 17 and 18.
The awareness camp was attended by the Self-Help Group members & other interested participants from Skurbuchan, Dhomkhar, Achinathang, Hannu, Shey, Stok, Stakna, Nang & Thiksey.
Functional Manager, DIC Leh, Abhishek Chandra Vaidya addressed the participants about the schemes being implemented/run by DIC, Leh i.e., PMEGP & PMFME. He also urged and motivated the candidates to come forward for setting up the new ventures in their respective places under PMEGP & PMFME scheme.
Industrial Promotion Officer (IPO), Leh, Mohd Zakiria informed the participants about the significance of the PMEGP scheme in detail.
He informed the gathering about the maximum cost of the project/unit admissible for margin money subsidy under the manufacturing sector is Rs. 50 Lakhs and under business/service sector is Rs. 20 Lakhs. He also mentioned about the rate of subsidy that can be availed by the General & Special category in urban & rural areas for setting up new enterprises.
Beronica Barua, State Lead Project Manager from SPMU-PMFME spoke about the benefits and significance of the scheme in detail. She informed that the scheme provides support to both new and existing food processing units with credit linked grant of 35% with a maximum ceiling of Rs. 10 Lakh. She informed about the assistance, training and handholding support will be provided by the Department to all the interested applicants. She also informed about the food products that will not be covered under the PMFME scheme.
She addressed the gathering about the Seed Capital component of Rs. 40000 that will be provided to each SHG member for working capital and purchase of small equipment/tool who are engaged in the food processing sector.
Tundup Wangail, Marketing Manager, SPMU-PMFME addressed the gathering about the importance prospectus of every product and help them in branding and designing of labels. He also spoke about the importance of packaging and labelling to enhance the scalability of food products.
