Deputy Chairman LAHDC Leh Attends Opening Ceremony of 3rd Edition of Climate Cup 2025 at Leh

Deputy Chairman LAHDC Leh Attends Opening Ceremony of 3rd Edition of Climate Cup 2025 at Leh
Leh: The opening ceremony of the 3rd Edition of the Climate Cup Football Tournament 2025 was held today at the Open Stadium, Spituk, with great enthusiasm and participation. The event, organized by the Ladakh Football Association with the support of LAHDC Leh, witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries and a large gathering of sports lovers, and is sponsored by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
The Chief Guest for the occasion, Hon’ble Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Shri Tsering Angchuk, graced the event and formally attended the opening ceremony. The Guest of Honour was Smt. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh. Among other dignitaries present were Executive Councillors Shri Ghulam Mehdi and Shri Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Leh Shri Romil Singh Donk, SSP Leh Smt. Shruti Arora, ADDC Leh Shri Sonam Nurboo, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Shri Tahir Hussain, DIG ITBP Shri K. S. Rawat, DYSSO Leh Shri Tsering Tashi, General Secretary of the Ladakh Football Association Ms. Tsering Angmo, along with representatives of cultural and social organizations of Leh.
The ceremony began with the welcome speech delivered by Smt. Bhanu Prabha, who underlined the importance of sustainability and expressed appreciation to the sponsors and LAHDC Leh for supporting the Climate Cup. She extended best wishes to all the participating teams, including those who had traveled from outside Ladakh to take part in the tournament.
In his address, Chief Guest Hon’ble Deputy Chairman Shri Tsering Angchuk highlighted the significance of the Climate Cup as a key initiative of LAHDC Leh, not only in promoting sports but also in raising awareness about Ladakh’s fragile ecosystem. He expressed gratitude to the Ladakh Football Association and all other stakeholders for their efforts in making the tournament possible. He emphasized that sports such as football can serve as a powerful medium to spread the message of environmental preservation and harmony.
The programme featured cultural performances and was followed by the inaugural match of the tournament between 1 Ladakh FC and ITBP, marking the beginning of weeks of spirited football action in Ladakh.
