Councillor Khaltse, 10+2 lecturers call on LG Mishra to discuss various issues

Leh: Councillor, Khaltse, Lobzang Sherap, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas Wednesday. Secretary to the LG, Ravinder Kumar, IAS, was present in the meeting.

Sherap informed about his plan to expand the drip irrigation/sprinkling project to bring more areas in his constituency under cultivation.

He also informed that his major focus is on the success of the drip irrigation/sprinkling site at Alchi.
Sherap informed the LG about the need for a Community Hall at Alchi. He also informed about the completion of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and other prerequisite works for the construction of the Community Hall.

He requested for the inclusion of the construction of the Community Hall at Alchi under the new schemes component of the Special Development Plan (SDP) for the Financial Year 2023-24.

The LG commended Sherap for taking the initiative of the drip irrigation/sprinkling site at Alchi and asked him to grow more vegetables and fruits at the site. He instructed Ravinder Kumar, IAS, to speak to the Chairman of LAHDC Leh about the construction of the Community Hall at Alchi.

A delegation comprising 10+2 lecturers from Ladakh led by Tsewang Dorjey called on the LG at Raj Niwas. Secretary to LG, Ravinder Kumar, IAS, was present in the meeting.

Dorjey informed LG about several 10+2 lecturers like him teaching subjects such as Education, Environmental Science and Statistics at different Government Higher Secondary Schools in Ladakh.

He also informed that these three subjects- Education, Environmental Science and Statistics- have been excluded due to the shifting of government schools from JKBOSE to CBSE pattern.

He further informed that the lecturers of these subjects are clueless about their roles due to this development and highlighted the impact of this development on students who are pursuing their graduate, post-graduate and research studies in these three subjects.

Dorjey requested for the LG’s intervention to reintroduce these subjects in the CBSE syllabus for the benefit of the students and PG lecturers. The LG assured to look into the matter.
