
Councillor Cha, Padma Shri Chhultim Chonjor call on BD Mishra
Leh: Councillor, Cha, Stanzin Lakpa called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat on Wednesday.
Secretary to LG, Ravinder Kumar, IAS; Chief Engineer, PWD, Ladakh, Abdul Mutalib; Chief Engineer, PHE, Ladakh, Tsering Angchuk and Deputy Secretary, PWD, Zakir Hussain were present in the meeting.
Lakpa raised several issues, viz. the construction of solarised community halls at various villages in Cha constituency; the construction of Dharma Centre-cum-Community Library at Chaktsal Yugar village; the creation of an additional PWD sub-division for Zanskar sub-division with adequate manpower; the sanctioning of lift irrigation, dam or reservoir at Zangla and construction of the Phuktal-Shadey Road under CRF, etc. He also requested for the official declaration of Zanskar as a separate district.
Deputy Secretary, PWD, Ladakh, Zakir Hussain informed the LG that appointment letters would be issued to 144 junior engineers selected through the exam conducted by SSC on October 25. He also informed that these Junior Engineers would be posted in different parts of Ladakh to meet the shortage of engineers.
The LG directed the Chief Engineer, PWD, Ladakh to visit Cha Constituency and assess the developmental needs in the area. The LG said that adequate manpower should be provided to the PWD Zanskar sub-division.
Padma Shri Chhultim Chonjor called on the LG at the LG Secretariat. Secretary to LG, Ravinder Kumar, IAS; Chief Engineer, PWD, Ladakh, Abdul Mutalib, Chief Engineer, PHE, Ladakh, Tsering Angchuk and Deputy Secretary, PWD, Zakir Hussain were present in the meeting.
Chonjor discussed several issues, viz. the declaration of Zanskar as a separate district; reallocation of the site proposed for the construction of the Shingku-La tunnel and sanctioning of solar power plant for irrigation purposes under the PM KUSUM scheme.
The LG directed the Chief Engineer, PWD Ladakh to arrange a meeting with Border Roads Organisation (BRO)’s Project Yojak to discuss the upcoming Shinku-La tunnel project. He also instructed the concerned officials to look into other issues raised by Chonjor.
