Leh: During the third day of official tour to Nubra sub-division, Chairman/CEC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson visited Samstanling Monastery, Residential Hostel at Sumoor, the villages of Lakjung, Tirith, Tsati, Rongdo, Digger, Kheme, Khyungru, Tangyar, Rongjuk, Khalsar, and Diskit. He was accompanied by Dy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk, EC Minority, Ghulam Mehdi, DC Leh, Shrikant Suse, Councillor Tiger, Rigzen Lhundup, Councillor Hunder, Kunzang Lotus, Chairperson BDC Diskit & Panamik, District officers and sub-divisional officers/officials led by SDM Nubra.
During meeting with the general public, major demands raised to the Chairman were blacktopping of link roads, extension of irrigation canals, need for 4G mobile towers, early completion of Lakjung-Diskit bridge, upgradation of ICDS and Medical centres, strengthening of sea buck-thorn cultivation, providing channelling-fencing, mutation of Notor, allotment of Command Area lands, protection bunds for streams, irrigation head works, completion of community halls with adequate facilities, need for ICe-Hockey rinks, school infrastructures, need for Drip-irrigation, rehabilitation, etc.
Taking strict note of the non-functionality of basic hygiene facilities including bathrooms at Residential hostel, Sumoor, CEC Gyalson instructed concerned officers to look into the matter and initiate actions on a priority basis. He also directed officers of PHE Department to provide adequate drinking water facilities within a week at Rongo village. He further assured to provide exposure tours to women self-help groups (Ama Tsogspas). He also directed medical officers to conduct roster basis medical camps in the villages regularly.
CEC Gyalson along with all the dignitaries and departmental officials inaugurated the new conference hall at the office of SDM Nubra, Diskit.
Furthermore, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of CEC Tashi Gyalson with the contractor’s faternity of Nubra region at SDM’s office. He further instructed that developmental works alloted post tendering should be completed within the stipulated period of time. He added that there isn’t shortages of funds and strict actions would be taken on the defaulters who do not complete alloted developmental works within the given timeframe.
