Leh: The Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson attended the long-life prayer offering and preaching ceremony by His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche at Wanla monastery today.
With the blessings of His Holiness, the foundation stone for the construction of a 15ft statue of the famous Wanla Lonpo, late Spawo Tashi Nurboo Dadul was laid down in the presence of Ven.Tulkus and Rinpoches, CEC Gyalson, BDC Chairperson, Singay Lalok, and all concern officials as well as village representatives at Wanla village today.
Emphasising the importance of the history of Wanla village especially about the Lonpo of Wanla, CEC Gyalson stated that the Wanla Lonpo statute project is aimed to enlighten the locals as well as visitors across the globe to know and explore the history of Wanla Lonpo in the modern-day time. He also added that it would strengthen the tourism sector in the village in particular and the sham region at large. He extended his gratitude to all the stakeholders and the personalities involved in the project and hoped that the project would complete successfully soon.
A Grand cultural program was also organised during the ceremonial function. The event was attended by a large number of devotees including the villagers of Wanla.
