CEC Jaffer Akhoon attends final match of Kargil Hero’s Cup-2023

KARGIL: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon Sunday attended the concluding ceremony of the Kargil Hero’s Cup Cricket Tournament 2023 organised by the Humas Upliftment Organisation Ladakh at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium Biamathang.

Deputy Commissioner, Kargil and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balsaheb Suse, Councillor Bhimbhat, Abdul Wahid, Councillor Chuliskambo, Councillor Chiktan constituency , Kacho Liyaqat Khan, members of civil society, players, and sports enthusiasts were present during the occasion.

During the finals, Friends Club Chiktan won over Skarchan Latoo by two wickets and lift the trophy.
CEC Jaffer in his address congratulated the winner and runners-up teams for displaying remarkable sportsman spirit and their splendid performance in the final match and making it memorable and electrifying.

He further congratulated the organizers for holding the mega tournament and carrying it professionally , adding he said that winning and losing are part of a game, however maintaining the sporting spirit is a major purpose.

Dr Jaffer added that these sports events are more than just games as it keeps people fit and away from negative influences.

Pertaining to the improvement of infrastructure and other logistics of the stadium, CEC Jaffer assured to address the matter of lavatory and dressing rooms for players.

He said that sports infrastructure will be the priority aim of LAHDC Kargil to promote sports infrastructure across the district. Furthermore, he added that the Hill Council in close coordination with the District Administration Kargil will resolve all the matter pertinent to Sports infrastructure and promotion.

Deputy Commissioner congratulated the winner and runner up and appreciated the efforts of sports persons and organisers and assured all possible support from district administration for strengthening the play-ground.

Pertinently, 90 teams from different parts of the district participated in the tournament.

The winning team was rewarded with a trophy and cash prize of Rs 1,50,000 while the runners-up team were given a trophy and cash prize of Rs 1,00,000. Mussa Mohd from Friends Chiktan was declared man of the match for his phenomenal display of cricketing skills throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, the winner and runners-up teams were also felicitated with medals by the dignitaries.
