CEC Feroz Khan chairs orientation-cum-workshop on NEP-2020

Kargil: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan on Thursday chaired a day-long orientation-cum-workshop on New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and its implementation in Ladakh.

The event was organized by GDC Drass in collaboration with District Institute of Education and Training Kargil and School Education Department, Kargil at Conference Hall Baroo, Kargil.

The CEC was the chief guest on the occasion while Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve was the guest of honour.

The other dignitaries who attended the workshop include Dean Academic/Controller Examination, University of Ladakh, Prof. Deskyong Namgiyal, Principal GDC Drass, Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi,  CEO Kargil, Mushtaq Ahmad, Principal DIET Kargil, Abdul Qayoom, Nodal Officer Training DIET Kargil, Dr. Wilayat Ali and various HoDs and Headmasters from different institutions.

While speaking on the occasion, the CEC said it is important how to implement the NEP with new spirit. 

He also said the program has much importance as all the three stakeholders of education that is DIET, School Education and Higher Education got together and it needs to be continued in the future.

 

Khan also said NEP is a student-friendly and stress-free policy that aims to make Indians knowledgeable and compete at the global level.

While speaking on the occasion, DC Santosh Sukhadeve said the Nation is planning to be developed up to 2047 adding that in order to achieve the aim, education and skilled manpower is important.

The CEO Kargil, Mushtaq Ahmad thanked GDC Drass for organizing the event. 

He said the discussion is open for everyone in the workshop and hoped the discussions will be fruitful for NEP implementation. 

He thanked LAHDC Kargil and District Administration for their support for the Education Department.

While talking about the NEP 2020, Principal DIET, Abdul Quyoom said the education policy is based on a holistic approach which will be beneficial for students.

 

Principal GDC Drass, Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi in his introductory speech talked about the various aspects of the NEP 2020 adding it will be student-friendly. 

He said the workshop is aimed to bridge the gap between Higher Education and School Education Departments.

Later, a PowerPoint presentation was given by Dean Academic/Controller Examination UoL, Deskyong Namgayal and Nodal Officer Training, DIET Kargil, Wilayat Ali. 

They explained NEP 2020 and its implementation in Ladakh.

 

Wilayat Ali talked about various aspects of the NEP 2020 and informed about the vision and five pillars on which the policy has focused.

 He also talked about key principles of the NEP, attainment of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) by Grade 3 in Mission Mode (2025) etc.

Deskyong Namgayal also presented a comprehensive PPT on the NEP and its implementation in the UT. 

He said from the academic session 2023, the UoL would implement the policy.

He also said the new education policy focuses on making students practical, and skilled and developing critical thinking in them. 

He also talked about the objectives of the NEP and reforms in the Higher Education and Academic Bank of Credits (ABC).

Detailed discussions were also held during the event. Different opinions and suggestions were presented by the participants about the NEP 2020 and its implementation in Ladakh. 

Principal GDC Drass presented the vote of thanks.
