CEC, EC distribute nomadic kit to Yak herders of Leh
LEH: Chairman/CEC, Tashi Gyalson, along with Executive Councillor for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, distributed subsidised Nomadic Kits to the Yak herders of Leh district under the LAHDC Leh’s subsidy scheme Wednesday.
Councillor Lamayuru, Dr. Morup Dorjey, officials from the Animal Husbandry Department, Leh, led by CAHO Leh, Dr. Mohd Iqbal, BVOs, and herders from respective villages of Sham, Nubra, and Gya Meru area were present at the event.
This year, the kits are being distributed at a subsidised rate, especially to the herders belonging to Nubra, Sham, and Gya Meru areas, apart from the usual herders from Changthang region.
EC ASH, Tashi Yakzee informed that to cater the need for reviving and extending the breed of Yaks in the entire district, this year, LAHDC Leh has kept the subsidy scheme, especially for the herders of Sham, Nubra, and Gya Meru area. He added that Changthang has received a large number of aid and assistance from the Administration in the past times, especially from the Changthang Development Package (CDP).
In his keynote address, CEC Gyalson congratulated the herders on receiving the much-needed kits for usage in the respective regions. He urged them to utilise the aid received from the administration and also informed them that more assistance would be provided in the future with a larger subsidy for the herders.
President, Yak Herder Association also addressed the gathering and expressed gratitude to the hill council led by CEC Tashi Gyalson and EC ASH Tashi Yakzee for their assistance in providing the much-needed kits to the Yak herder community. They also raised a few demands and grievances and requested CEC to address them.
