Kargil: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, convened a comprehensive review meeting today to assess the progress of ongoing developmental schemes at SVD Sankoo Subdivision.

During the meeting, Dr. Akhoon issued strict directives to expedite all ongoing works, emphasizing that deliberate delays will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He stated that any compromise in the quality of work would result in immediate action against the responsible parties.

Dr. Akhoon reiterated the administration’s commitment to fulfilling its promise of ensuring 100% expenditure of the Capex budget, as pledged to the Union Territory Administration of Ladakh.

He directed officials to prioritize early completion and inauguration of developmental projects while ensuring active coordination with the region’s representatives.

The CEC praised officials and engineers who are diligently contributing to the execution of various schemes.

He urged the administration to take strict action against non-performing contractors, stressing that funds under Capex will only be released for work that is visibly progressing.

Otherwise, the funds will be reallocated to other performing areas.

In a strong message, Dr. Akhoon announced that he will conduct surprise inspections before the end of June. “Be alert and ensure delivery — I will not hesitate to face consequences, and neither should you,” he stated firmly to the officials.

The CEC also directed the immediate start of the ongoing project and assured full administrative support for its execution.

He instructed departments to begin the process of blacklisting chronically non-performing contractors and to engage consultancy agencies to accelerate procedural tasks.

SE R&B Kargil, Skalzang Dorjay, informed that there is currently no compiled data on contractors who have taken up work but have failed to begin execution.

However, efforts are being made to strengthen documentation through the fast-tracked implementation of e-Office systems.

He assured the CEC of their dedicated commitment to completing all projects within stipulated timelines. Executive Engineer Syed Mehdi reported that the foundation work list has been submitted, and several projects are nearing completion, with inaugurations expected in the near future.

The meeting was attended by SE R&B Kargil, Skalzang Dorjay, Executive Engineer, SVD Sankoo, Syed Mehdi, Incharge AEE Sankoo, Incharge AEE Barsoo, Incharge AEE SD Taisuru, Junior Engineers among others.
