Leh, September -09-25: As a part o f strengthening Collaboration between Traditional Sowa-Riga medicine of Bhutan and National Institute of Sowa- Rigpa, A Delegation from Ministry of Health, Govt. of Bhutan has visited National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Leh on 8-9 of September, 2025.
The high level Senior Officials of Traditional Medicine sector of Bhutan has a detailed discussion with Director and Officers o f NISR, Leh regarding the scope of collaborative works and exchange of students of Sowa- Rigpa.
The delegation comprises: Kencho Wangdi, CPO, TMD, MoH; Tandin Chogyal, Program Analyst, TMD, MoH ; Tshering Tenzin, CEO, Menjong Sorig Pharmaceutical Corporation Limited; Drg. Karma Galey, Medical Superintendent, National TM hospital ; Drg. Tendey Wangdi, Dy. Dean, FoTM ; Phuntsho Wangdi, Menpa, Wangdue hospital.
The delegations also interacted with Sowa-Rigpa Experts from various Sowa-Rigpa Institutions of India. During the meeting, it was also discussed that there should be a Sowa-Rigpa Association on Asia and World Level to initiate dialogue for preservation, promotion and development of Sowa-Riga for the well-being of humanity.
The delegation also visited Trans Himalayan herbal Garden of NISR to learn about the good practices of cultivation of Himalayan plants. The delegation extended invitation to Director and officers of NISR to visit Bhutan and further develop the close collaboration for the strengthening and Development of Sowa-Rigpa.
