Bhimbet, Tyakshi, Aryan village delegations call on LG Mishra

Leh: A delegation from Bhimbet, Kargil led by its Councillor, Syed Mohd Shah called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas Thursday. Secretary to LG, Ravinder Kumar, IAS, was present in the meeting.

Shah raised several informed HLG about the flash flood in 2022 at Yulbu village in Drass which caused damage to the irrigation channels and agricultural fields.

He requested for the construction of the flood protection bund to prevent the village from floods in the future. He also requested for the release of the funds for the construction of the protection bund at the earliest.

Shah informed about the accumulation of debris in irrigation channels and fields due to the flood due to which they are unable to carry out any farming/agricultural activities.

He requested for assistance in removing debris and restoring the irrigation channels and fields. He informed about the submission of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the concerned department and requested to expedite the process in this regard.

Shah also raised several other issues related to his constituency and Drass sub-division, including roadway connectivity and the promotion of tourism activities.

The LG instructed Ravinder Kumar, IAS, to contact Chairman, LAHDC Kargil, to prioritise the project. He assured to look into the other matters.

A delegation from Tyakshi led by Sarpanch, Mohd Nazir, called on the LG at Raj Niwas.
Nazir raised several issues related to his constituency, viz. the sanctioning of the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) at Tyakshi; the installation of the mobile tower at Thang village to improve telecommunication connectivity, etc. The LG assured to look into the matter.

A delegation from Dartsik led by President, LBA Branch Aryan Valley, Tsewang Tundup called on the LG at Raj Niwas.

Tsewang raised several issues related to Aryan valley, including the land dispute between the people of Dartsik and Batalik; the need to sanction a separate sarpanch for Dartsik village; the upgradation of Government Middle School, Dartsik to Government High School; the need to protect, preserve and promote the socio-cultural identity of people from Aryan valley; the appointment of a representative of Aryan community to LAHDC Leh and Kargil; issuance of Actual Line of Control (ALC) certificate; adoption of the culture of Aryan valley as UNESCO World Heritage; inclusion of Dardi-Arya language among the main languages of UT Ladakh; financial assistance for construction of guest houses, homestays and hotels for Buddhist pilgrims from Leh and Kargil; renovation and restoration of the centuries-old palace of Da Gaon, etc. The LG assured to look into the matter.
