The annual meeting of the Ladakh Shanti Stupa Governing Body for the year 2025 was held today at Hotel Zen, Leh, under the chairmanship of Shri C. Phunsog, IAS (Retd.), Chairman of the Governing Body.
The meeting was attended by Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson; Venerable Gyomy Nakamura, Chief Patron of the Ladakh Shanti Stupa; Hon’ble Councillor Upper Leh, Phuntsog Stanzin Tsepag; Hon’ble Councillor Lower Leh, Tsering Namgyal; President, Ladakh Buddhist Association, Tsering Dorjey Lakrook; Shri Tsering Samphel, General Secretary, Ladakh Shanti Stupa; Shri Tsering Samphel, President, Shanti Stupa Foundation; Gyeshe Lobzang Tashi, Vice President, LGA; President, LBA Women Wing, Kunzes Dolma Jawo; President, LBA Youth Wing, Jigmet Raftstan; the Goba of Skara; members of the Shanti Stupa Committee and Shanti Stupa Foundation; along with other members of the Governing and General Body.
During the meeting, General Secretary Shri Tsering Samphel gave a detailed briefing on the journey of the Shanti Stupa, recalling how the Stupa came into being, the significance it has held over the past four decades, and the support it has continued to receive from the people of Ladakh as well as from across the world. He highlighted the efforts undertaken in recent years for its upkeep, the renovation works carried out to preserve its sanctity, and the measures adopted to ensure proper facilities for devotees and visitors. He also placed before the members the requirements for further improvement in the coming years.
The General Secretary further presented the Income and Expenditure Statement of the Shanti Stupa for the financial year 2025–26, detailing the sources of income and the expenditure incurred towards maintenance, repair, and other related works.
The meeting was followed by a warm celebration of Ven. Nakamura’s 71st Birthday. Members of the Governing and General Body, along with distinguished guests, joined in extending heartfelt wishes to him on the occasion. The celebration concluded with a luncheon gathering.
