Admin mulls to develop Kargil engineering college at par with IIT

   Leh: Aiming to provide better technical education to the youth of Leh and Kargil, the administration of Ladakh is mulling to develop Kargil Engineering College at par with Indian Institute of Technology (IITs).

Sources informed Indus Dispatch, the administration in collaboration with experts from IITs Delhi and Delhi will develop Kargil Engineering College on the pattern of the premier institutions.

“The Kargil Engineering College will be equipped with state-of-art facilities, equipments and laboratories. This will allow local youth to get better technical education in the Union Territory,” sources added.

Being an alumnie of IIT Kanpur, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, constantly making efforts to upgrade engineering, polytechnic colleges and industrial training institutes of the Union Territory.

“Not only this, due to his efforts, the Central delegations of the three IITs visited to Ladakh and sought suggestions regarding developing a technical institute like IIT,” they said.

In this connection, Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur held a meeting in Delhi with experts of the three institutes, secretaries and officials of the higher education department.

“In meeting, a threadbare discussion was held on increasing start-ups to make youth of Ladakh self-reliant,” they said.

At the same time, the team of three IITs presented a feasibility report regarding the engineering college in Kargil.

According to experts, the Kargil Engineering College will be modernized.
