Drass, October 13, 2025: Member of Parliament (MP) Ladakh, Mohmad Haneefa Jan today conducted an extensive tour of Drass Sub-Division to review ongoing developmental works and assess local issues on the ground. The MP was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho, SDM Drass, Vishal Atri, Deputy CMO Dr. Fatima Banoo, Chief Agriculture Officer Kargil, Ashiq Hussain, BMO Drass Dr. Sajjad Hussain, along with heads of various departments and concerned officials.

During the visit, the MP instructed the ADC to ensure that all heads of departments accompany him in future tours to ensure effective coordination and early response to public grievances.

At Biaras, Drass, villagers raised several issues including Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) implementation, proposal for a tourist viewpoint, blacktopping of internal roads, lift irrigation schemes, restoration of irrigation khul, construction of a village bridge, and water supply for the new colony at Haripora. The MP assured the villagers that an immediate solution will be explored within his competency, including installation of a submersible pump, while long-term measures will also be pursued.

He further assured an inquiry into the JJM related issues and said that works would be prioritized based on urgency and feasibility.

At Goshan (Old Meeting Hall), the public put forth demands such as restoration of the Tololing Irrigation Khul, provision of a submersible pump, construction of a Jal Shakti water tank at Tololing, upgradation of Government Middle School Majapur to a High School, development of a reservoir tank, blacktopping of internal roads, establishment of a Medical Sub-Centre, and a Food Store. A detailed memorandum highlighting these demands was also shared with the MP.

Addressing the gathering, the MP thanked the people for their continued trust and support. He stated that the purpose of the tour was to assess developmental challenges at the grassroots level and to escalate them to higher authorities through the ADC and SDM for timely redressal. He assured that both immediate and long term measures would be taken to resolve the issues. He further mentioned that recommendations for the upgradation of Middle School Majapur would be made as per norms and that the MPLAD Plan is under process.

At Ranbirpura, villagers raised concerns regarding the Jal Jeevan Mission and demanded blacktopping and link roads. The MP directed officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for link roads and instructed to make the Khundiyal Submersible Pump functional within three days.

He also took note of the demand for a dedicated electric line for the Sub-District Hospital Drass, and appointment of a lady gynecologist, physician, and ultrasound facilities, with restoration of the duty roster as per earlier routine.
