Suru, August 27, 2026: The scenic Suru Valley came alive with sporting energy as a Mountain Biking Challenge was organised at Damsna as part of the ongoing Suru Summer Fest, bringing together cycling enthusiasts, youth and local residents.
The challenge was flagged off by Joint Director Information/Deputy Director Tourism Mohd Taqi, JKAS, from Damsna. A large number of cycling enthusiasts participated in the event, while local youth and members of the public gathered along the route to cheer the participants and witness the sporting spectacle.
The cycling event was organised with the aim of promoting adventure tourism, healthy lifestyles and greater community participation in the festival. It also provided an opportunity to showcase the spectacular landscapes and tourism potential of the Suru Valley.
Officials highlighted the potential of activities such as mountain biking in positioning Suru as an emerging destination for adventure, eco and rural tourism. They appreciated the enthusiastic participation of cyclists and youth, noting that such events can encourage outdoor recreation while creating greater visibility for the region’s tourism attractions.
The Suru Summer Fest features a diverse line-up of cultural, sporting, adventure and tourism-related activities, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the valley’s natural beauty, local culture and hospitality.
The Mountain Biking Challenge added an element of adventure to the celebrations while reinforcing the festival’s broader objective of promoting Suru Valley as a vibrant tourism and adventure destination.
