Drug Awareness Drive Reaches Domkhar Villages, Police Urge Community Vigilance

Sham, Ladakh, August 27, 2026: District Police Sham, under the supervision of SSP Sham Malik Aijaz, JKPS, in collaboration with the Civil Administration Sham, conducted drug awareness programmes at Domkhar Gongma and Domkhar Dho to sensitise local communities about the growing threat of substance abuse.

At Domkhar Gongma, Inspector Tsewang Norboo, SHO Police Station Khaltsi, along with Stanzin Diskit, CHO, and Lobzang Chorol, ANM, briefed participants on the harmful physical and social consequences of drug abuse. The importance of timely counselling, medical assistance and community support was also emphasised.

A similar awareness programme was held at Domkhar Dho, where Inspector Tsewang Norboo, along with Amina Bee, CHO, and Tsering Diskit, ANM, highlighted the health, social and legal consequences associated with substance abuse.

The programmes witnessed participation from local residents, youth and village representatives. Participants were encouraged to remain alert to drug-related activities and promptly report suspicious or illegal activities to the police.

The outreach programmes focused on strengthening community awareness and collective responsibility in preventing substance abuse, particularly among young people.

District Police Sham reiterated its commitment to working with local communities and civil authorities towards building a safe, healthy and drug-free society.
