Kargil, October 09, 2025: The Chief Agriculture Officer, Kargil, today inaugurated the ZKL Packaging and Marketing Plant for local agricultural produce at Kurbathang, Kargil. The unit has been established under the Special Development Package (SDP) with the objective of strengthening post-harvest infrastructure, promoting value addition, and providing marketing support to the farming community of the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Agriculture Officer highlighted the significance of the unit in promoting local agricultural produce such as barley, buckwheat, and their value-added products, ensuring quality packaging, and enhancing marketability at regional and national levels. He emphasized that the initiative will benefit farmers by creating better avenues for income generation and reducing post-harvest losses.
The ZKL Packaging and Marketing Plant is equipped with modern machinery for cleaning, sorting, and packaging of various agricultural commodities produced in Kargil. It is expected to play a crucial role in branding and marketing Ladakh’s unique agri-products, thereby supporting the region’s agricultural development.
